Anna Vaaben

Assistant Specialist

Anna (she/her/hers) grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark and recently move to San Francisco. She did her BA and MSc degree in Human Biology at the University of Copenhagen and partly at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

As a BA and MSc student, Anna has worked with the Discovery Lab at the Center for Medical Parasitology in Copenhagen. Here she worked with characterization of host-parasite interaction associated with severe malaria and more recently with developing a P. falciparum model restricted to expression of certain blood stage antigens. In addition, she has worked as a student researcher at Immudex, a Danish biotech company developing T cell specific MHC dextramers.

When not in the lab, Anna enjoys being outside - hiking, camping, and climbing.
