Estefania Vargas Alejandre

Laboratory Research Assistant

Stef grew up in San Diego, CA and attended San Francisco State University for her undergraduate degree in 2021.

During undergrad she enjoyed hiking with friends, taking part in journal clubs, and trying restaurants around school. While at SFSU, Stef worked under Professor Erica L. Sanchez, to understand Kaposi's Sarcoma Herpesvirus (KSHV) G Protein-Coupled Receptor (vGPCR) and its contribution to metabolic regulation during infection. Since starting her career, Stef has grown from sample acquisition to training and troubleshooting flow analyzers at both CIL and the Parnassus Flowcore.

When not in the lab, Stef can be found trying new dessert shops around SF, hiking, or crafting.
