Our weekly DEM Snapshot, a weekly email update, helps our personnel and collaborators stay informed about policy updates, new staff joining the division, open vacancies, events, and featured announcements. Below are our archived newsletters starting in 2021.

October	Rachel Rutishauser was one of the co-organizers for joint UCSF ImmunoX/UCB Immunology retreat at Asilomar, last month.

August	The Quality of Life Committee is hosting an ice cream social today, 8/3 at 2 PM in the 505 Conference Room.
July	Last month, two members of the DEM recently took part in a joint workshop co-hosted by the Stop TB Partnership Working Group on New TB Vaccines (WGNV) and the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) dubbed “Recognition and Control of Mtb Infected cells: From Basics to the Clinic.”
June	Thank you to all the labs who participated in the DEM Guacamole Day.
May	We are proud to recognize the following members of the DEM headed off to graduate school programs this fall.
April	Thank you to everyone who responded to the events following the building power outage on March 22. Because of your efforts, the loss of materials and samples in our freezers were kept to a minimum.
March	In non-clinical settings, masking is optional. Please respect preferences to mask or be unmasked.
February	The DEM welcomes our new Division manager, Fonda Smith.

Oct 24, 2022	Open Enrollment for faculty and staff begins on Thursday, Oct 27 at 8 AM.
Oct 17, 2022	Candids will be taken for all labs in the Division on Tuesday, 10/25.
Oct 10, 2022	We are bringing back pancakes on Tuesday mornings starting at 9AM in the 503 Kitchen.
Oct 3, 2022	All ZSFG workforce members are required to complete the Annual Compliance and Privacy Training.
Sept 26, 2022	UCSF Revises return to on-site work guidelines.
Sept 19, 2022	This week is National Postdoc Week, so we wanted to give a shoutout to all the amazing postdocs in our Division.

July 25, 2022	The DEM AIDS Walk team raised $500 for the POP-UP program at Ward 86.
July 18, 2022	The DEM summer trainees will be presenting posters to showcase their projects on Thursday, July 28.
July 11, 2022	Be vigilant about masking at work, unless you are in a room by yourself. At no time should you be eating or drinking together inside.
July 4, 2022	There is still time to join the DEM's AIDS Walk team!
June 27, 2022	The DEM gives a statement on the SCOTUS Decision on reproductive health care.
June 20, 2022	ZSFG offers a Stop the Bleed course to teach the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control it.
June 13, 2022	As of last year, Juneteenth is recognized as a national holiday. UCSF will be closed on June 20 in observance of the holiday.
June 6, 2022	This summer, San Francisco will host the largest display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in a decade
May 30, 2022	With an increase in personnel in the Division, the lab managers and Safety and Equipment Committee have decided to institute an online calendar for reserving Biosafety Cabinets in Room 511 BSL2, Room 615 BSL2*, and Room 623 BSL2.
May 23, 2022	The conference room will be split into 505A and B starting in June to allow for more meetings.
May 16, 2022	WiFi access points will be added or replaced in/near room 501, 505, and 627 – the three of the lowest areas of coverage in the current WIFI map and corresponding with the survey data.
May 9, 2022	Mikias will be presenting a poster tomorrow at the ImmunoDivierse Colloquium titled: "Prevalence of congenital and early childhood CMV in a cohort of Ugandan children."
May 2, 2022	Two new webpages focused on our anti-racism/anti-oppression work have launched. They were developed as a follow-up to the launch of the Accelerating Anti-Racism Work in Medical Education Charter to provide transparency about and openly communicate progress towards the Charter goals.
April 25, 2022	This month's CFAR seminar is co-sponsored with the UCSF Center for TB and will have a spotlight on the Division.
April 18, 2022	TB Testing is required annually for all UCSF staff and faculty at ZSFG as a ZSFG Occupational Health Services policy, regardless of your clinical activity.
April 11, 2022	As onsite activities continue to increase, including meetings, we have requested the lobby door for Building 3 be unlocked during regular business hours so that vendors and guests could enter the building and use the 1^st floor phone to call the Division for elevator access.
April 4, 2022	DEM faculty member, Dr. Cheryl Stoddart will be retiring at the end of June 2022.
March 28, 2022	The Division has joined Twitter. Please follow us @UCSF_EXPM.
March 21, 2022	The DEM conference room will be available for RSVP with a split (side A - larger, side B - smaller, whole room) moving forward. An email will be sent to your lab manager or PI to confirm the current assignment.
March 14, 2022	The admin team will be onsite regularly Monday-Thursday. Vanessa, Justin, and Susan may be onsite intermittently based on meetings or facilities and equipment needs.
March 7, 2022	This Sunday, March 13, is spring forward. Remember to set your clocks forward by an hour.
Feb 28, 2022	The seminar series will be returning to it's hybrid format starting on 3/7.
Feb 21, 2022	We are all inspired by Dr. Paul Farmer's life and contributions and hope to carry on his principles and make the world a better, healthier, place to be a human being.
Feb 14, 2022	The UCSF Black Caucus was founded in 1968 from the direct action of UCSF staff who advocated for change. They are a forum open to all Black-identified individuals and allies on the UCSF campus. This group provides a space to openly express themselves regarding matters of race as they affect life on the campus and in the community.
Feb 7, 2022	Shoutout to Mikias for volunteering in the UCSF Clin Labs during the recent surge.
Jan 31, 2022	On February 1, 2022 billions of people throughout the world kicked off the Lunar New Year.
Jan 24, 2022	UCSF Color vending machine installed at ZSFG in the Building 9 lobby. A UCSF ID will be needed to access the machine.
Jan 17, 2022	Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order one set of 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. Order now so you have them when you need them.
Jan 10, 2022	Wearing an N95 mask while on-site is highly recommended. We have one mask available per DEM personnel. If you work in the BSL2/2*, please take a 2nd mask for your cubby.

December 6, 2021	The Joshi Family will be providing a Holiday & Thank You lunch on December 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM in honor of our community and care for Pheroze. We will be ordering box lunches for you all to pick-up, post-Seminar Series.
November 29, 2021	Food is allowed for internal, in-person meetings including the DEM Seminar Series and lab meetings. Food and drink will not be provided by the Division.
November 22, 2021	UCSF Closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 for Thanksgiving.
November 15, 2021	In Memoriam: Pheroze Joshi, PhD. Pheroze was a founding member of the Division and long-standing colleague of Dr. Cheryl Stoddart. We mourn his passing and will remember him fondly.
November 8, 2021	Thank you to everyone who attended the Pizza in the Park event. UCSF will be closed on November 11 in observance of Veteran's Day.
November 1, 2021	We had our annual pumpkin carving event this past Friday. Cheryl Stoddart won "Best Execution of Design" for her cat pumpkin and Justin Vang-Moore won "Best Concept"
October 25, 2021	Open Enrollment for faculty, staff, and health employees begins Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 8 AM. The enrollment period is open until Friday, November 19, 2021 at 5 PM. All Open Enrollment changes will be effective January 1, 2022.
October 18, 2021	International Pronouns Day seeks to make respecting, sharing, and education about pronouns commonplace. Our Division has ordered a batch of pronoun stickers from Parnassus that will be available in the upcoming weeks. More details to come.
October 11, 2021	We are re-introducing our in-person seminar series with the presentation of the State of the DEM
October 4, 2021	100% completion of the 2021 ZSFG eLearning is the goal by November 1, 2021.

September 20, 2021	UCSF celebrates the twelfth annual National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) from September 20 through September 24, 2021.
September 13, 2021	Your voice is important! Make it count. All registered California voters were sent ballots to be able to vote early and remotely. To be counted, you must return your signed ballot on time (postmarked by Sept. 14 or dropped off by 8 p.m. on Election Day at a polling location). Find more information at ucsf.edu/vote.
September 6, 2021	Chancellor Sam Hawgood, MBBS, announced that the date of return to on-site work has been extended for those working remotely to March 1, 2022.
August 30, 2021	Rachel and Tim will be key investigators in recently awarded NIH Awards. The National Institutes of Health has awarded approximately $53 million in annual funding over the next five years to research organizations in a continued effort to find a cure for HIV.
August 23, 2021	The ImmunoX Research Committee has awarded Rachel with a collaborative CoProject for "Mapping the cellular and metabolic landscape of human immune development".
August 16, 2021	As predicted and in line with San Francisco’s new public health order, through September 30, 2021, with immediate effect: All non-essential indoor events are to be canceled, etc.
August 9, 2021	Please take these into consideration when eating meals on the ZSFG campus: Consider eating outside, use alternative break sites, stagger meal schedules, stay 6 feet apart, wash your hands, don't share food and utensils.
A ugust 2, 2021	Now that we know the risk of contracting COVID from touching surfaces is low, we will be closing the doors this week. EH&S will be inspecting our space again this Friday. The division will provide up to 2 lab carts for each lab, if needed.
July 26, 2021	If you have a purchase need of any kind, please start by connecting with your Lab Manager for guidance on which purchase process and appropriate chart of account(s) to use and with your PI for pre-approval.
July 12, 2021	All staff were invited to the UCSF Staff Engagement Town Hall to learn about the findings of the Gallup Survey and initiatives to strengthen our community.
July 5, 2021	The DEM Weekly Snapshot has been moved from Mailchimp to Constant Contact in accordance with new UCSF guidelines.
