Center for Infectious Disease Molecular Imaging
Accelerating Infectious Disease Breakthroughs with Imaging Innovation

Center Vision
The vision for the Center for Infectious Disease Molecular Imaging is to facilitate the development and implementation of cutting-edge molecular imaging technologies to localize and characterize infectious diseases and host responses across the whole body. Ultimately, this will lead to enhanced development of therapeutic interventions and improve global health.
Building the Future of Infectious Disease Imaging
UCSF is a world leader in infectious disease and molecular imaging research and clinical care. The rich environment has led to many ground-breaking findings spanning basic, pre-clinical, translational and clinical investigation. CIDMA leverages these existing strengths, creating a rich interdisciplinary research and clinical implementation space. A major goal of CIDMI is to obtain, grow, and share molecular imaging resources to facilitate inter-departmental and inter-institutional collaborations.
Center Goals
CIDMI leverages the unique depth of resources available at UCSF and partner institutions to:
- Provide a forum for sharing novel ideas and findings
- Obtain and share major project funding across participating investigators to facilitate infectious disease molecular imaging research
- Support the mentorship and career development of junior investigators and students interested in infectious disease molecular imaging
- Foster broad engagement in this rapidly growing, high-impact field
- Enable the acquisition and implementation of instrumentation and other resources required to perform cutting-edge research
